Haydn & Rollett’s work at Ellerslie in recent times has included the conversion of part of the racecourse’s 1913 totalisator building into a stylish function room. Apart from its soaring hipped ceiling, arguably the focal point of the room is the sleek bar that was completed by Haydn & Rollett’s joinery team in 2019.
Set against a backdrop of white plastered brick walls, the four-metre long bar has a striking black front with vertical and horizontal brass trim. The same black and brass theme continues in the open shelving above the wine fridges and in the architectural light fixtures. In addition to the bar, the team created light box pillars and a coffee serving area.
