Kaiora, the new ground floor eatery in downtown Auckland’s ANZ Centre, is all curves and organic forms, subtle lighting and leafy plantings. All that naturalness was hard-earned, not least the extensive glass and brass feature that floats above the double-width café counter. Ruled out of suspending this feature from the ceiling, Haydn & Rollett’s joinery team had to design it so that all of its support came from the counter below, with rods bolted internally.
