Haydn & Rollett Property Services were engaged to rejuvenate part of the ageing façade at Albany Mega Centre, a busy retail hub north of Auckland. The upgrade involved stripping back the existing exterior and installing a modern cladding and rejuvenated design giving the centre a refreshed, contemporary look.
As with many buildings constructed in the early 2000s, opening up the façade revealed some of the familiar legacy issues of that era. Areas of moisture damage and deteriorated framing required careful remediation, with sections of rotten timber replaced before the new envelope could be installed.
The project was delivered within a live retail environment, requiring careful staging and management of tenants across five separate work zones while maintaining safe pedestrian access throughout the centre. With a firm deadline to complete the works ahead of the Christmas retail rush, close coordination between the project team and centre management ensured the programme stayed on track.
The result is a revitalised section of the centre that not only looks sharper but will perform far better for years to come.
