The new tenant of this East Tamaki warehouse had an unusual and very specific requirement. A manufacturer of adhesives, it needed safe storage inside the building for its chemical precursors and other dangerous goods. The end result reads like a kind of concrete bunker inside the warehouse, built by Haydn & Rollett using insitu block walls and a 400mm-thick topping roof. With just half-a-metre of clearance, the concrete pour for the roof required hands-and-knees work by the crew.
